Outcomes Students develop a conceptual understanding of correlation procedures and group comparison procedures. Students also develop proficiency in (1) data entry, data manipulation and data screening; (2) matching of statistical procedures to research questions and data characteristics; and (3) use of SPSS for data analysis.
Content This unit covers conceptual issues and practical skills unique to quantitative data analysis in the fields of sport science, exercise science and health. The content includes spreadsheet and data file management; descriptive statistics; bivariate correlation procedures; multivariate correlation procedures; group comparisons using t-tests; one-way and multifactor analysis of variance; and non-parametric statistics.
Assessment This comprises two interim tests (25 per cent each) and an end-of-semester examination (50 per cent).

Supplementary assessment is not available in this unit.
