REGD8417 Natural Resource Management Policy [PG]

Outcomes Students develop an understanding of the main issues and institutional arrangements in environmental and natural resource management in Australia; the ability to critically analyse the impact of international, national, state and local environmental policy and law in a region; the ability to critically analyse the institutional arrangements for natural resource management in a region; the ability to demonstrate an understanding of environmental and natural resource policy processes; and the ability to communicate comprehension of environmental and natural resource management systems by developing quality arguments.
Content This unit examines some of the main issues in natural resource management in Australia and the development of policies to address environmental degradation. It assesses some of the responses by government and how intergovernmental relationships have an impact on policies. It also examines policies for specific sectors such as waterways and water resources, rangelands and agricultural landscapes, terrestrial biodiversity and forests, and marine and coastal environments.
Assessment This comprises a 1000-word assignment (15 per cent), a 2500-word essay (40 per cent), a portfolio of research tasks (35 per cent) and online discussions and tutorials (10 per cent).

Supplementary assessment is not available in this unit.
