REGD8412 Regional Development Policy [PG]

Outcomes Students develop an understanding of policy development processes; an ability to evaluate the effectiveness of policy in regional contexts; knowledge of regional development policy and institutions in Australia; and an ability to communicate comprehension of concepts in regional development policy by developing quality arguments.
Content This unit examines the theory and practice of regional policy. It introduces some of the key features of policymaking in Australia including discussion of the increasing role of citizens in policymaking. It explores policy processes and mechanisms and goes on to examine policy practice in terms of Commonwealth and State governments' regional development policies.
Assessment This comprises a 1000-word assignment (15 per cent), a 2500-word essay (40 per cent), a portfolio of research tasks (35 per cent) and online discussions and tutorials (10 per cent).

Supplementary assessment is not available in this unit.
