Outcomes Students are prepared for the in-country experience by learning about their linguistic needs and how to motivate themselves; analysing cultural differences between university life in Australia and Italy; and developing their proficiency in Italian.
Content This unit is a prerequisite of the Study Abroad program at the University of Bergamo which takes place in July during the mid-semester break. Students prepare for the in-country experience by learning about their linguistic needs, Italian university life and cultural differences between university life in Australia and Italy. The program of activities gives students the opportunity to develop their proficiency in Italian. In Italy students attend a three-week intensive course at the University of Bergamo, including cultural outings, and spend a week in Rome on language-related activities.
Assessment Supplementary assessment is not available in this unit except in the case of a bachelor's pass degree student who has obtained a mark of 45 to 49 and is currently enrolled in this unit, and it is the only remaining unit that the student must pass in order to complete their course.
