This unit gives upper-level Bachelor of Arts students the opportunity to gain credit for supervised projects related to a discipline of study in a range of working situations. Students work with a workplace supervisor and an academic supervisor from their discipline on their practicum. The unit enables students to identify, put into practice and further develop discipline-specific skills and knowledge, as well as generic skills acquired throughout an Arts degree. Intending students should enrol in the unit and submit an online Expression of Interest form to the Arts Practicum Co-ordinator as soon as possible in the preceding semester. In discussion with the Arts Practicum Co-ordinator, they should identify a member of the academic staff who is willing to act as their supervisor. The University is responsible for placing students, providing support during the placement and formulating assessment requirements. For more information and to download the Expression of Interest form, students should visit http://www.practicum.arts.uwa.edu.au/. |
| Assessment |
This unit is assessed on an ungraded pass/fail basis. Assessment comprises of the completion of 100 hours of project-related work, three workshops, an essay, a portfolio of self-assessment exercises, and evaluation by the student's supervisors. |
