GRMN2213 German Youth on Stage [UG]

Credit 6 points
Availability Semester 1, Semester 2
Old unit code 070.313
Outcomes Students gain an increased level of competency in all four macroskills—listening to as well as speaking German, and reading and writing German allowing for proficiency levels ranging from B1 to C1 of the Joint European Framework (Gemeinsamer Europäischer Referenzrahmen). Students demonstrate their knowledge of performance in theory and practice, and develop an increased awareness of intercultural understandings as well as memorising and communication strategies. The ability to work as part of a team is increased.
Content This unit allows students to explore and perform texts and plays written for stage. While the theoretical part of the workshops surveys the history and evolution of drama from its beginnings in antiquity to postmodernity, the practical part focuses on youthful interpretations. Every semester the practical focus is on a different playwright, era and performance style. (See discipline noticeboard for further information.)
Assessment Supplementary assessment is not available in this unit except in the case of a bachelor's pass degree student who has obtained a mark of 45 to 49 and is currently enrolled in this unit, and it is the only remaining unit that the student must pass in order to complete their course.
