Students demonstrate an understanding of the demand of language and literacy required in English and across the curriculum, and are able to design programs of work that support upper primary students in comprehending and composing more complex texts. They evaluate literacy teaching practices, and develop their own practice on the basis of research and evidence. |
| Content |
Students examine the literacy requirements for the comprehension, composition and production of more complex texts, particularly in preparing students for secondary schooling; plan and sequence teaching and learning strategies for more advanced reading and writing skills; examine and analyse a range of literacy practices; and investigate strategies to support whole, small group and individualised literacy instruction. |

This comprises a 2000-word assignment and a two-hour final examination.
Supplementary assessment is not available in this unit. |
