| Outcomes |
Students are able to use relevant curriculum documents to prepare, implement and assess learning programs in schools; design and teach effective lesson plans; demonstrate knowledge of and skills in developing student-centred learning tasks; use a variety of resources to engage student interest; develop and implement sound assessment procedures; accept and act on advice from their mentor teacher and University supervisor; undertake a range of teacher responsibilities; and develop and sustain professional working relationships with school colleagues. |
| Content |
Students undertake six weeks of school experience in a primary school. They have an opportunity to try a variety of techniques and approaches in a classroom context under the guidance of a mentor teacher in the school. Mentors provide assistance in programming, lesson planning and classroom management. Constructive feedback on each lesson provides a basis for the development of teaching skills. A University supervisor visits the student twice during school experience to provide feedback and make an assessment of the level of competence. |
| Assessment |
This is determined from reports from the school mentor teacher and University supervisor.
