EDUC8494 Approaches to Student Assessment [PG]

Outcomes Students are able to read and interpret information pertaining to the technical properties of established measures, and apply the principles introduced to the construction of measures with appropriate technical properties.
Content This unit focuses on the principles of assessment and evaluation in the context of education and the social sciences. Students explore principles of test construction, administration, scoring, item analysis and technical adequacy from both theoretical and practical perspectives.
Assessment Students submit an assignment on which their unit grade is based.

Supplementary assessment is not available in this unit except in the case of a student enrolled in the Graduate Diploma in Education who has obtained a mark of 45 to 49 and is currently enrolled in this unit, and it is the only remaining unit that the student must pass in order to complete their course.
