Students are able to appreciate the nature of the curriculum area; identify the desired student outcomes; recognise the key elements of career and Vocational and Educational Training (VET) courses; consider appropriate content, resources and learning strategies for developing programs within this area; and develop the abilities, confidence and skills to design and deliver suitable career education programs. |
| Content |
This unit introduces students to the provision of career education and an understanding of career development in Western Australian secondary schools. It focuses on what may be provided for students in Years 8 to 10 and on the structure of Vocational and Education Training (VET) programs in Years 11 and 12. |
| Assessment |
This includes the preparation of a series of lesson plans, a learning program and a resource folder.
Supplementary assessment is not available in this unit except in the case of a bachelor's pass degree student or a student enrolled in the Graduate Diploma in Education who has obtained a mark of 45 to 49 and is currently enrolled in this unit, and it is the only remaining unit that the student must pass in order to complete their course. |
