| Content |
This is an introductory unit in microeconomic theory with some policy applications. Topics include an introduction to the economising problem; pure capitalism and the circular flow of income; demand and supply analysis and elasticity; ordinal and cardinal theories of consumer behaviour; production theory and analysis of the costs of production; price and output determination under different market structures including perfect competition, monopoly, monopolistic competition and oligopoly; and finally a study of price determination in the resource or factor market. |

Supplementary assessment is not available in this unit except in the case of a bachelor's pass degree student who has obtained a mark of 45 to 49 and is currently enrolled in this unit, and it is the only remaining unit that the student must pass in order to complete their course. |
