Availability Semester 1 and Semester 2
Outcomes Students are able to (1) critically analyse strategic and/or operational planning policies and processes; (2) demonstrate an understanding of policy theory and practice; and (3) conduct research and work independently; and (4) demonstrate appropriate and effective written and oral communication skills.
Content This unit is taken over two consecutive semesters and parts 1 to 3 must be completed to fulfil the requirements of the unit. The unit is designed to develop students' independent research and analytical skills. In consultation with the unit co-ordinator, they must seek and define a suitable project, devise an appropriate research strategy, interpret results and present them in the form of a planning report, research poster and oral presentation.
Assessment This comprises an oral presentation (10 per cent), research poster (10 per cent) and a planning report (80 per cent).

Supplementary assessment is not available in this unit.
