Outcomes Students are able to read, view and translate a variety of authentic Chinese text such as news (both television and newspaper), business letters, advertisements and literature; develop specialist vocabularies in areas they are interested in such as politics, media or global issues; and conduct basic consultation in Chinese related to the area they are familiar with.
Content This unit provides students with an understanding of Chinese reading and writing at an advanced level. This understanding is developed through an examination of print and website writings of contemporary writers and through workshop discussion. The unit is of particular interest to students who would like to become proficient readers and writers of Chinese.
Assessment Supplementary assessment is not available in this unit except in the case of a bachelor's pass degree student who has obtained a mark of 45 to 49 and is currently enrolled in this unit, and it is the only remaining unit that the student must pass in order to complete their course.
