This unit comprises the following topics: macromolecular ensembles—an introduction to fluid dynamics, diffusion, membrane biophysics and thermodynamics; biosystems—biomolecular structure, enzyme kinetics, natural scaling, energy budgets, atmospherics and ocean currents, bioastronomy and automata; biophysical dynamics—non-equilibrium thermodynamics; entropy, information theory and biological diversity; and dissipative structures. |
| Assessment |
This comprises laboratory work (20 per cent), and examinations and assignments (80 per cent).
Supplementary assessment is not available in this unit except in the case of a bachelor's pass degree student who has obtained a mark of 45 to 49 and is currently enrolled in this unit, and it is the only remaining unit that the student must pass in order to complete their course. |
